Several Washington Redskins players traded in their shoulder pads for aprons and name tags Monday evening.
Outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan hosted his second-annual Blitz For The Better Celebrity Waiter Night at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Arlington, Va., where Kerrigan and nine of his teammates spent a couple hours serving hors d’oeuvres and mingling with fans — and all for a great cause.
Kerrigan started his Blitz For The Better foundation last year to provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in need in the Washington, D.C. area — particularly for children who have serious illnesses, special needs or are physically challenged.
The goal of Monday night’s event was to establish the foundation’s first-ever “Kerrigan’s Korner” program at Children’s National Health Systems, which is a locker filled with electronics, games and entertainment software designed to help critically ill children and their families pass the time during in-patient stays at the facility.
Joining Kerrigan at Ruth’s Chris Monday night were linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat, linebacker Gabe Miller, tight end Niles Paul, safety Ryan Clark, running back Alfred Morris, linebacker Adam Hayward, offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao, offensive lineman Braxston Cave and fullback Darrel Young, each of whom certainly played the part very well.
Kudos to Kerrigan and his teammates for supporting such a great cause.
